Teach Me Tapes, Inc., the Minneapolis based children’s book publisher, has won more awards for their latest titles in the Teach Me…Christmas Songs and Traditions Series. Fröhliche Weihnachten: Learning Songs & Traditions in German and Buon Natale: Learning Songs & Traditions in Italian were both honored with the 2008 iParenting Media Award. Fröhliche Weihnachten was also recognized as an IPPY finalist and Buon Natale was given the honor as Foreword Magazine Book of the Year Finalist. These titles join the other award-winning titles in this series: Feliz Navidad: Learning Songs & Traditions in Spanish and Joyeux Noël: Learning Songs & Traditions in French, which are both winners of the 2007 iParenting Media Award.
This series celebrates the joy of Christmas customs around the world. These beautifully illustrated books are accompanied by an audio CD, which includes the narration in the target language and 15 songs to sing along with and learn. The music features traditional songs specific to the country, as well as translations of many holiday favorites. These new titles feature the renowned soprano voice of Maria Jette, (Minnesota Sinfonia, A Prairie Home Companion), as she sings in German and Italian. The Minnesota Boychoir, directed by Mark Johnson, joins Maria on the Italian project to bring the music to life for children of all ages. The German title incorporates a wonderful children’s choir assembled from the Twin Cities German Immersion School in St. Paul, MN. The upbeat arrangements, produced by Scott Malchow, bring a new twist to old holiday favorites.
